LIBRARY

A comfortable and spacious seating arrangement provides a complete Academic atmosphere in each library where students can sit and concentrate. The catalogue of books helps students to identify their needs and quick reference. It is updated regularly as the new books are added. A Display Board has also been provided in the Library where students can view interesting articles and news-clippings directly.

Objectives of the library

The main objective of the library is to provide documents, information and environment that can be helpful in imparting education, promoting research and development thereby leading to improved patient care.The library working hours are 9.00 a.m.-5.00 p.m. on all weekdays and Saturdays. The library is closed on Sundays and all Public holidays.

CENTRAL LIBRARY

Central Library is the hub for information services in the institute and serves as a major learning and resource centre. It is a creative and innovative partner in supporting the teaching, learning, scholarship and research activities of the institute. With the fast growing collection, both in digital and print forms using the state-of-the-art facilities, the Central library is contributing at an higher extent to provide a world class academic institute. It is located in a separate building comprising two storey, ground and first floor. The location of the central library overlooks beautiful landscape of lush green plants and variety of flowers. The pleasant ambience and the well-furnished well-lighted location create an atmosphere of serenity and thereby inspire the learning and research. It has a spacious area of 8541 Sq. meter / 1,50,008 sq. ft that exudes peaceful learning environment. The collection in the library encompasses 297302 books of 47584 titles varying in subjects like Engineering, Management, Architecture & Design, Law, Pharmacy, Nursing, Dental, Basic Science & Humanities and also includes reference books, 3179 CDs/DVDs and subscribed to 100 print journals and 80 magazines in print and e-resources. Major e-resources such as IEEE Journals, Science Direct, IEEE Proceedings, ASME, ASCE, ACM, Springer and Web of Science are accessible to the SIST community from anywhere in the campus.

Admission to the Library

• All staffs and students are members of the library. • Personal belongings like files, folders, bags, jerkins, umbrella, issued books etc are not allowed inside the library. • Students/staffs should sign in the Gate Register while entering into the library. • Complete silence is to be observed inside the library. • All members of the library are entitled to produce their ID card when the library staffs demand for checking. Books will be issued only on production of ID card. • Damage and misuse of Library materials and equipments is not allowed. • Library is functioning under Open Access System. • The arrangement of chairs and other furniture in the reading area should not disturb. • Non- Adherence to any of the rules or any other malpractices by any member shall involve withdrawal of library facilities in accordance with the instructions of the Principal. • Transfer certificate will be issued only after the production of No Due Certificate from the Librarian

Library Rule & Regulations

• Four books are issued for 30 Days and they must be returned on or before the last date stamped on the date-slip of each document. • Members are responsible for any damage caused by them to the books or any other property belonging to the library and shall be required to pay the penalty imposed upon them by the Librarian • The members caught tearing pages/stealing of books will be suspended forthwith from using the library facilities and further disciplinary action will be initiated against them by the Institution • All the Books are stacked subject-wise after reading, please keep them back in the same rack. • All readers are required to maintain discipline in the Library. • Library Staff will not be responsible for readers’ personal books. • Underlining, marking, folding of pages, etc. in the book is strictly prohibited. Please check the book before borrowing. If a book is torn, soiled due to rain, stained due to photocopying or loose from binding, this should be reported to the library staff at the counter. Borrower is responsible for the condition of the book while returning.

Library Rule & Regulations....

• Every reader who loses the book must report to the University Library immediately and he will be given one month time for finding and return of the book. In case he fails to return the book after one month from the date of reporting, he will be charged a fine of Re 1/- per day per book till he replaces with the new book of the same title and other details. In case he/she can’t replace the book then he/she will have to pay TWO TIMES the cost of the book. • All the final year students shall return books borrowed from the Library before commencement of the final project review and get No Due Certificate from the Library. • Any overdue book should be either returned or renewed; it will be charged a fine of Re.1/- per day per book. • The students are instructed that, while entering into the library they should be with proper inning of shirts and should wear the ID card properly

Departmental Libraries

Every department can borrow few books for ready reference. Only those books, which have more than one copy, can be issued to the department against the signature of the departmental head. If single copy, will be kept in reference section only. All the departmental books would be available in the department for ready reference. A proper record will have to be kept by the department for these books and department will be responsible for them

Books Issues and Returns

• While borrowing the book, the member must make sure that the book is in good condition and the page numbers are intact. • The staff/students are entitled to return the books as and when they are called by the librarian. • If a book is not returned when due, another book will not be issued. • The books borrowed from the library are to be returned within 15 days or on or before the due date specified on the due date slip pasted in the front page of the books. If the book is retained beyond the due date, a time of 1 rupee per day will be collected. • If a book is lost by the borrower, it should be immediately informed to Librarian in writing and the same should be traced and replaced within 15 days from the due date. • If the borrower is not able to replace the book for the book lost within two weeks, they have to pay the cost of the book in five times. If a book is replaced, current edition of the book with bill will only be accepted. • Reference books will not be issued. • Non-book materials like CD and Floppy are also issued on Overnight issue. • The borrower shall be responsible for any loss caused to the library documents borrowed. • Borrowers ticket (Library Card) is not transferable strictly to the students and staffs. • If a borrower ticket is lost by the borrower, the students should be immediately informed in writing and the same should be traced. After that duplicate borrower ticket will be issued against charged
