DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS

The department of physics was started in the Academic year 2014-2015. Master degree program was started in the academic year 2016-2017. U.G and P.G programs affiliated to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. The department of physics offers allied course for first undergraduate student of other branches. Now the department has 5 teaching staff and 103 students.

The department has highly qualified dedicated faculty members. The faculties are actively engaged in research activity. Some areas of interest are nanotechnology, crystal growth, and thin films. The department organizes every year seminars, conference.

Objectives

• Students will demonstrate proficiency in physical concepts needed for a proper understanding of physics.
• Students will demonstrate knowledge of classical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics and thermal physics and be able to apply this knowledge to analyze variety of physical phenomena.
• Students will show that they have learned laboratory skills, enabling them to take measurements in physics laboratory and measurement to draw valid conclusions.

Library

The department has an Extensive library.

Physics laboratory

This lab is used by undergraduate and post graduate students. This lab has the necessary facilities to perform most of the experiments related to optics, general physics, electronics, microprocessor, C- programming. The laboratory is used to synthesize materials.
